Take a Guided Park Walk Today!

Guided park walks are offered at a variety of Rockland County Parks.  These walks are offered year-round and are led by trained Rockland County Trail Guide Docents

All guided walks are coordinated and supported in partnership with the Rockland County Division of Environmental Resources, the Rockland County Youth Bureau’s AmeriCorps program and the Rockland County Department of Health’s Steps to a Healthier Rockland program to educate Rocklanders about the natural beauty of Rockland County while encourage residents to get some physical activity. Exploring unfamiliar parkland with a knowledgeable docent will relieve any apprehension of venturing out in the parks on your own.  Join us on a guided walks and enjoy the County’s beautiful natural surroundings while meeting other County residents! Visit the Calendar page for the list of upcoming walks.

Walking is a great way to reach the Surgeon General’s recommendation of 30 minutes a day of moderate physical activity most days of the week.  Sedentary lifestyle is a risk factor for chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.

Many of the guided walks are also thematic walks ie. Dog walk, kid-focused, Father’s Day Challenge, Geocaching, and Bird Watching, to name a few.

All walks are free and pre-registration is recommended although not required.  Please call 845-708-7307 to register.  All walks will take place rain or shine.  Walkers will meet in the park parking lot unless otherwise noted.

Walkers should wear proper footwear (close-toed sturdy shoes such as walking shoes/boots or sneakers) and clothing, and bring water and sunscreen.
