School Food Service Directors' Cooperative
The Rockland County School Food Service Directors' Cooperative was established in May 2008 to enhance dialogue among school food service directors about complying with their district's wellness policies. In its first two years, the Cooperative hosted several presentations from food vendors and farmers on healthier food products which has enabled some to include desired foods into their menus. Additionally, it was the Cooperative's enthusiasm for farm fresh produce that ignited the Rockland Farm to School movement. Meetings are held bi-monthly at the Rockland County Department of Health.
