Free Guided Park Walk: Rockland's Ghost Town: Explore the Mysteries of Doodletown

Join Docent Louise Parnell and special guest Ellen McGuire, former resident of Doodletown,on this 4-5 mile, moderate to difficult (3-sneaker) walk in the remains of this intriguing former town in northern Rockland. This walk will feature a first hand account of life in the hamlet, a review of the history of Doodletown, and a discussion about reasons Doodletown was transformed from a community of residents back into a tract of land in its' natural state...

Join Docent Louise Parnell and special guest Ellen McGuire, former resident of Doodletown,on this 4-5 mile, moderate to difficult (3-sneaker) walk in the remains of this intriguing former town in northern Rockland. This walk will feature a first hand account of life in the hamlet, a review of the history of Doodletown, and a discussion about reasons Doodletown was transformed from a community of residents back into a tract of land in its' natural state.

While there is no limit to the number of participants for this walk, parking is limited. Walkers are encouraged to carpool. Arrive early to compensate for possible limited parking and to find the meeting point.

  • All walks are rain or shine.
  • Participants should wear proper footwear (closed-toe sturdy shoes such as walking shoes/boots or sneakers) and clothing (light-colored) and seasonally appropriate attire such as a jacket, hat, or gloves depending on the weather and bring along binoculars, water, sunscreen, a snack, and walking sticks if desired.  Hiking boots preferred.
